Accumulators are important refrigeration components designed to protect your compressor and prolong its working life. When refrigerant fails to boil off in the evaporator it can be potentially damaging if allowed to flow through the suction line and into the compressor. The accumulator collects liquid refrigerant and allows it to slowly be filtered back into the compressor and re-enter the refrigeration cycle.
